Discover Eastern Townships

Located in southwestern Québec, bordering Maine and Vermont, the Eastern Townships have a population of about 320,000 inhabitants.

Sherbrooke, the region's dynamic capital, counts on several attractions, including Parc du Mont-Bellevue, Théâtre Granada and the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke. Lennoxville, one of its many boroughs, benefits from the presence of Bishop's University. Furthermore, Sherbrooke citizens enjoy a covetable quality of life, an efficient public transportation service that includes a bicycle-bus transit during summertime along with free Internet access in many public areas. The city is also among the top 21 intelligent communities listed by the Intelligent Community Forum organization in 2015.

Known for bicycle touring, culinary tourism, the Wine Route, and the Tour des arts, the Eastern Townships will also please outdoor lovers who will be able to hike in over a dozen national and regional parks, including Parc régional du Mont-Ham in Ham-Sud and Mont Gosford in Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn. In addition, the reputation of Lake Memphrémagog among Magog vacationers and residents speaks for itself.

The Eastern Townships are made up of equally charming municipalities. Granby, for example, gained recognition through its famous zoo. Canton d'Orford and Roxton Pond each boast a magnificent national park. Fourteen bridges are scattered throughout the municipality of Cowansville, and Shefford's ecological park includes trails that stretch for over 6 kilometers. Asbestos owns one of the world's biggest mineshaft, and Lac-Brome is one of Québec's most beautiful villages.

Downhill skiers will relish Sutton and its majestic mount. Bromont, nestled at the foot of Mont Brome, is the largest night skiing resort in America.

The towns of the Eastern Townships take pride in their New England architecture and their sumptuous Victorian houses. Farnham, for instance, possesses a unique heritage that dates back to the Loyalists. The country-style atmosphere that is typical of the region will charm anyone who is interested in buying a permanent home or second residence in the Townships.
