The 1977 Kinsmen House is associated with the Kinsmen House competition, an annual tradition at the Quebec City Provincial Exhibition. Designed by Côté and Desgagnés Architects, the house is a fine example of formal and constructive research in post-war modern construction. It is located in a typical suburban setting of Beauport, surrounded by lush greenery. The 1977 Kinsmen House is therefore of superior heritage significance.

This house is associated with the Kinsmen Club, a non-profit community organization that made its mark on Quebec City between 1944 and 2009 through its participation in a multitude of charitable causes. The annual Kinsmen House raffle became a Provincial Exhibition tradition starting in 1957. Each year, a press review highlighting the event highlights the appeal of this tradition to the public. It was a moment of collective dreaming where, for a few weeks, thousands of middle-class Quebecers hoped to win this house. Moreover, it was part of a context of appreciation for the suburbs and their lifestyle, associated with the modernity movement that was revolutionizing ways of living.

In addition to its modernist features, complemented by the white stucco covering the ground floor, the house exhibits influences of the American Shed Style through its steep roofs and original wood shingle cladding on the upper floor and roof. Over time, the residence lost its authenticity through the covering of the facades with vinyl clapboard, the removal of the windows at the apex of the roof, and the addition of a sloped roof on the ground floor, extending over a carport to its right.

Fortunately, renovations in 2021-2022 restored the purity of the volumes and the original modernist spirit. Indeed, the windows at the top of the roof were restored, the carport was retained, but its sloping roof was removed while its details were refined, and the walls originally made of wood shingles were paneled with vertical wooden planks. These more harmonious interventions restored a large part of the building's authenticity.
